Plant Health Care

Plant Health Care, also called PHC, can consist of one or more of the following:

Deep Root Fertilization

We use Davey Arbor Green Pro 30-10-7. This complete tree fertilizer contains high-quality nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium formulated from ureaform and monopotassium phosphate, plus polyamino acid. This fertilizer has a slower, controlled release rate that lends to better more uniform growth, greater efficiency of nutrient absorption and less risk of leaching.

Mulching

Mulch, if applied and maintained properly, can conserve water, reduce weeds & competition from other plants, act as a temperature regulator keeping your soil warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. Organic mulch will encourage soil microorganisms which, over time, will help improve the soil.

Deep Root Watering

Usually performed on trees that are stressed or on trees during construction to combat stress. Using our water truck, the tree is watered deeply at certain increments during the construction process to ensure the trees health.

Air Spading/ Air Excavation

Your tree roots need air, too! When the soil around your tree becomes compacted, the roots can no longer access the air, water and nutrients it needs. Using an air tool, we can blast away the compacted soil without damaging the tree roots. This is also a great technique to use when you need to trench close to a tree, this allows you to make room for water lines, irrigation lines etc without severing any major roots.

Foliage Wash

Generally performed on construction sites during the hottest/driest months of the year to combat dust accumulation on foliage/reduced photosynthetic capabilities and augment limited natural rainfall.
